Oh I saw this one before, its totally crazy so I assumed it was a one
off bogosity or misbuilt kernel.

Are you using devfs ?

Thats not even getting into the sound code. That appears to be

file->f_op->open

which means something scribbled on the pointers or some kind of bogus
unload occured leaving the character device registered and pointing to
an unloaded module

Next time this occurs can you do an lsmod and also a cat /proc/devices
and tell me what happens
