As a followup to my own message, I've gone back to fresh sources and
reconfirmed that the move from pre-2 to pre-3 broke knfsd totally.
Unfortunately, nothing in the pre-3 patches really stands out as a
possible culprit!

Am I the only one experiencing the problem?
