I compiled pre-2.1.127-3 UP by using the spinlock.h from pre-127-7 and it looks like it works OK. I can not get it to lock up. Will let it run a few more hours and try the same with pre-127-4 to find out exactly where the UP flu was introduced. I am assuming that the cause has not been dicovered yet? BTW, I am using a pretty vanilla config, The only additions from the default config file are parallel port, lp support (module), smbfs (module), FAT, msdos, vfat (modules), and Tulip networksing support. No scsi, ISDN, APM, sound support.
127 through pre-129-3 would lock up within a few hours. CPU is a Genuine Intel P166.
