Well, you could try Ingo Molnar's memleak-deluxe kernel patch.
Using that tool I found a leak in the bridge module so that Alan
actually could remove the bug.

You can get the patch together with some utility scripts from my
FTP-Site at <ftp://ftp.xss.co.at/pub/Linux/kernel/debug>

This patch originally was against 2.0.32 (I think), but there
shouldn't be a big problem applying it to 2.0.36prexy (I had to
manually apply some lines)
