Since 2.1.122 the System timer (irq 0 IO-APIC-edge timer) stops after about 30 minutes. Network, keyboard, mouse, ... still ok but no time dependent functions available.
cat /proc/interrupts shows no increment for the timer.
Motherboard dual Pentium 200 (Gigabyte) SMP Kernel (compiled with gcc2.7.2.3)
After i exchanged io_apic.c in 2.1.124 against the one from 2.1.121 (with a few changes) everything works fine.
I also noticed IDE hangs with clean 2.1.122-4 versions (i had to switch off/on the machine) to make it boot.
this symptom too vanished after exchanging the io_apic.c.
except of that the 2.1.124 kernel seems to be faster for TCP connections, and maybe process startup, but that's only a feeling.
