Subjecttimer stops 2.1.122-4 (maybe APIC)
Since 2.1.122 the System timer (irq 0 IO-APIC-edge timer)
stops after about 30 minutes.
Network, keyboard, mouse, ... still ok
but no time dependent functions available.

cat /proc/interrupts shows no increment for the timer.

Motherboard dual Pentium 200 (Gigabyte)
SMP Kernel (compiled with gcc2.7.2.3)

After i exchanged io_apic.c in 2.1.124 against the one from 2.1.121
(with a few changes)
everything works fine.

I also noticed IDE hangs with clean 2.1.122-4 versions
(i had to switch off/on the machine) to make it boot.

this symptom too vanished after exchanging the io_apic.c.

except of that the 2.1.124 kernel seems to be faster for TCP
connections,
and maybe process startup, but that's only a feeling.
