Line 1563 of ibmmca.c has:

if ((pos2 & 1) == 0)

On an 8556 with IMB integrated SCSI pos2 is 1 and on a 9556 it is 5( in
violation of the spec in the adf), so for autorecognition of scsi adapters
on these machines this test is wrong.

This is a well known problem, but I thought I would flag it again here.

Apart from that the patch runs fine on my 8556 including 3c529 detection.
