AFAIK the CVS tree tree was in a very unstable state after all the changes required for German certification (including lots of disabled features). Also it has a few misfeatures that IMHO should never appear in the standard kernel namely timru (which does not belong in the kernel at all) and ABC compress if it is still in (because it is so unspeakable ugly code)
