I'm having similar problems with 2.1.125 and p2l97-s, so there seems to be a problem with asus on-board 7880's and the 5.1.x driver. The machine boots ok, but when the disk activity gets heavier a SCSI timeout comes within 10-20s (which the machine recovers from by resetting the bus)
The 5.0.x driver works very well, I haven't seen scsi-related problems with it at all for the 4-5 months I've had the motherboard.
