    The 1540B was either a custom CPU or a SCSI ASIC.  The C models had a
    Z80 CPU as far as I know.  I personally preferred the B model though
    you missed out on some on-board software and a few minor goodies.

    I ran a Linux system for nearly two years with ISA set to 10MHz.
    The 1540B kept up with its DIP switches set to 8MHz.  It really
    got some good transfer rates and was still easy on CPU.
