Once I had it above one page of file handles then funny things began to
occur far more often with 2.1.x. I actually dumped the patch out of my
tree about 2.1.115 or earlier. If you want to send me a current copy of
the patch I'll reapply it and try and break it again.

Right now I'm just using a vmalloc() for the file handle array which is a bit
crude
