Not many.

Not unless a stat on a devlink returns appropriate information. An lstat
would return different information.

It shouldn't perform any differently to a symlink to a device in the
current scheme.

Now, if there is software out there that actually goes out looking for
block and char devices of certain major/minor numbers or whatever then you
fix them. They are probably being a bit rude doing that already.
