I've been getting some very strange behaviour when mounting and using my vfat partition under the 2.0.x kernels. (I've tried with x.30, 31, 32.) Basically, it just runs painfully slow. Simply doing an 'ls' of a relatively small directory may take a matter of minutes! The drive isn't really working when its reading from the vfat partition... it barely makes any noise, and the drive light only flicks on now and again. I'm running a single 4.3GB IBM EIDE drive on a Dual P166 machine. I've been running on 2.1.64 for a couple months now, and vfat access is practically instantaneous. The strange thing is, I don't recall my vfat drive being THAT slow before before I switched. So, perhaps a system setting has changed? I'm not sure what it could be though. Any pointers would be much appreciated. Peter McLachlan
