FWIW, I've seen identical behavior with AFS and at least some recent
2.0 releases (2.0.29 for sure and probably also 2.0.32.) I think the
problem may have gone away when I upgraded to 2.0.33 and Derek's
current AFS build, but I don't remember for certain.
