sizeof(char) = sizeof(float)= sizeof(long) = sizeof(int) = 1

1 just happens to be 32 bits, which is the smallest adressable unit.

No, Linux isn't running on them (quite), but we certainly run them
plugged into Linux machines, and they access the host filesystem.
