The reasons why they've not been sent to Linus:
  1) There is no DES support yet (AFAIK).
  2) Only electronic code book (ebc) mode is supported so far.
  3) I've not written the transformation API in stone yet.
I considered these significant enough to delay its release.

If the general concensus is to submit the patch now, I'll go
ahead and do this...though I thought we were in a code freeze.

P.S. For the others who are curious, an old patch is available at
         ftp://fractal.mta.ca/pub/crypto/aem/
     I intend to have an update in place by Monday if possible.
