I prefer the 'h' since the rest of the kernel refers to 'hosts'
In fact, I believe that: Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 03 Lun: 00 as reported by the scsi system should match the naming scheme. So it should report 'Target:' not 'Id' and Unit: not Lun.
It would be nice to be able to look at the probed devices and translate to device names VERY easily. We already have at least 2 alternatives for every letter out of those 5. We should make the kernel consistent.
