Subjecton linux and platforms
From what I gather, making a kernel for another platform is just:
make ARCH=<platform> menuconfig
[for <platform>=alpha, i386, m68k, mips, ppc, sparc, sparc64]

Is that correct?
(gee - that solves part of my work on documenting kernel compilation <sigh
- wish I had more time :>)

Oh, and incidentally are there any other platform-specific defines?
[eg. i386 has __SMP__]

Perhaps could SMP be done this way if we really CAN'T (I can't see why
not) do config?
[and a Makefile.SMP that sets it automagically?]

G'day, eh?
- Teunis
