Martin, this patch will not rmdir either (as I indicated about mine that I emailed you last night); in yours, as in mine, rm -R removes the files in the directory, but will not remove the directory itself. Your patch seems to return -EBUSY when this operation is attempted.
Also, why aren't you using fat_delete_inode? Just curious.
