SubjectRe: SCSI Autoloaders

I have been poking around in the manpages for mt(1) and st(4), and
linux/drivers/scsi/README.st, and I don't see any ioctl for switching
tapes in an autoloader. I recently purchased a Seagate 4586NP SCSI-2 DAT
autoloader recognized as:

Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: ARCHIVE Model: Python 28849-XXX Rev: 5.AC
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

The documentation for this device claims that the magazine can be
manipulated by either manual controls or SCSI bus commands. Is there any
current support for such control, and if not, what would be involved in
adding it? I'm willing to read the SCSI HOWTO's and take a stab at adding
functionality, if necessary.

Check out my MTX program available from http://www.dandelion.com/Linux/.

Leonard
