SubjectMemmory Management
I only have 8 MB of RAM on my little 486-DX4 100 box. I noticed first
when I used netscape in X. It started swapping heavily after I made this
2.1.43 kernel. So, I quickly got out of there and did free. I get about
only 350-512K of free memmory left after a boot. I cant remember how much
it was before this kernel, but I believe it was over 1K. How could I get
this thing to use less of that valuable resource known as RAM. I am only
16 and cant afford a RAM upgrade. Plus, I would rather get knee deep in
the kernel to fix things. :)

A novice was trying to fix a broken Lisp machine by turning the power
off and on. Knight, seeing what the student was doing spoke sternly:
"You can not fix a machine by just power-cycling it with no
understanding of what is going wrong." Knight turned the machine off
and on. The machine worked.
