Even with the slab fixed applied 2.1.42 is dumping when I try to start X11.The crash occurs because as X starts it does an SIOCGIFCONF and something ate the list it walks. The list is ok until X starts loading.
With a non SMP kernel the corruption doesnt occur (but it may be corrupting something different now - who knows). NFS is unhappy and logged a
"NFS oops in nfs_flush_request: can't lock page!" This is single CPU
