OK, I actually hate this kind of metoo mails, but in this case:

Thirded. Please keep things sorted the way *nix was intended to be!
Put them in /proc (or /tmp if really need be (but then beware of cron jobs that clean up the place every now and then (and I don't want to get *any* error messages out of those because of the fs not knowing about these pipes))). Whatever, do *not* put them in /.
