Subject2.1.43 (non-SMP): IDE CD-ROM timeouts galore!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
With 2.1.43 I am receiving a huge number of the following messages in my
syslog as a result of copying them to other drives (both EIDE and SCSI-2).
This is using a NEC 8x CD-ROM on a PPro 200MHz with plenty of RAM.

Jun 21 15:13:08 gomer kernel: hdd: DSC timeout
Jun 21 15:13:18 gomer kernel: hdd: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy }
Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: hdd: ATAPI reset complete
Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: hdd : tray open
Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40, sector

Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: hdd : tray open
Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40, sector

Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: hdd : tray open
Jun 21 15:13:19 gomer kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 16:40, sector

Eventually I can copy everything by repeatedly peforming the 'cp'
command. My system (with CD-ROM) was working perfectly fine under
kernel 2.0.29.
