Dear All: With the pre-4 patch applied, I *cannot* build a kernel if SMP is defined in the makefile because both/either trampoline.S and head.S give the following (paraphrased) error message: can't fit FFFFFFFFxxxxxxxx into a 4 byte value.
Some part of the changes introduced seem to now produce a negative number. I can cure the problem by NOT building an SMP version.
Another small issue: I can't build a loginable 2.1.36 anymore for some reason. 'login' gives the message: Unable to change tty /dev/tty1: operation not permitted I'm using Slackware 3.2. Can't find the source for THIS login. Note that this seems to be fixed in the non-SMP pre-2.1.37-4 patch. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
Regards, George Byrkit
