The rpms and base directories (and the rest) are on a win95 partition. I'm aware that the previous Linux didn't support FAT32 directly, so i've got the installation on a FAT16 wiith l/filename support. The Linux 4.1 installation was quite happy with this setup. The prolbem is actually starting off the Linux 4.2 boot disk. I get the following when it reaches the partition check :
Partition Check
hda: hda1 hda2 hdb: hdb1 hdb2 < hdb5 hdb6 >
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0 crcerror VFS:Cannnot open root device 08:02 Kernel panic:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on 08:02
(I Haven't included Drive C coz it hold my 95 system stuff as does G, which holds a second 95 installation (don't ask :)
Partition Status Type Volume Label Mbytes System Usage D: 1 PRI DOS STUFF 803 FAT32 26% 2 EXT DOS 2260 74%
(I have two drives, 1x1gig, 1x3.2gig, the 1 as master, the other as slave)

There's about 750MB free in my extended dos partition for linux (i'm assuming i can do this.. if i can't doesn't matter.. that can be fixed)
