I had to pull apart my K6 machine because I had to fulfil a contract to
sell someone a K6 and AMD is, as you mention, having trouble keeping up
with demand. The chip was cool when I turned the machine off and pulled
it. And this with a dinky little heatsink.

It was awfully nice for kernel compiles. Pity that the only cpuinfo
patching I'd done for /proc/cpuinfo was against 1.2.13 :-(
