SubjectRe: ext2 filesystem corruption?!?!??
i was having the same sorts of corruption problems(not inode
corruption so much) but of the unexplained kernel exception
and "what's this doing on the SCSI queue?" message variety
using the fast and wide ncr53c825 board.

high activity seems to be a factor to the 1.7 driver. a tar
from the hard drive to a 4 mm dat tape driven by the same
board could reproduce strange results almost every time.

roudier's 1.8 version is a quantum leap is stability and
performance for me.

it also has some neat statistics in /proc.

see my attached driver boot messages.
