hello.
i just got back (tried to atleast) into the development kernels several days back. The day before .34 was released actually. Anyhow i got .33 compiled (had some funny errors in the code... i sent a message on it) after a bit... but when i tried to boot it off of a floppy or using lilo from the disk it would start loading and then end up scrolling the stack code, etc., about half way through. I did not think much of it and booted an old 2.0 floppy. The next day .34 came out. I got this compiled it and got the same result. I tried .30 thinking something funny might have slipped in. Same thing. So i got .35 today...... and lo and behold i got the same thing :). this time i decided to write down the shit. this really sucked because it does not pause or nothing....... some of the numbers change as it is moving through the stack??? anyhow it reboots after like 30secs then i have to wait and start writing quickly again. I finnaly got it all and have included it as an atachment. The '*' are where the numbers were changing as the pages flew by :). I saw one page of this code right around "Ramdisk initialized" and "Serial driver....". it jumps past this and i cannot see it very well. The code i copied down happens (shows up) right after the kernel see my nec cdrom. i included /var/log/messages, which has no info on the kernel that does not boot :(, and also some specs on my machine (tell me if u need to know more abou it). Well i really want to use these kernels for various reasons, but i am stumped on this problem. Any help is very much desired. thanks taylor ccCorrupted stack page Processor swapper(pid: 1, process nr: 1, stack page= c0005000) Stack: 00000000 c0202920 c000**** 00000000 c0202980 0000000f 00000001 c0202980 00000001 00000000 c011cd99 c0006018 00000000 c011d1af c000**** 000003ac c000**** c0006018 c010aa6e 0000000b c000**** c01deb40 c01e01e9 00000002 Call trace: Code: 89 8e ac 03 00 00 89 8e b0 03 00 00 39 f3 0f 84 95 00 00 00 spinlock stack at c01139fc (c01139fc) Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 000003ac current->tss.cr3 = 00101000, %cr3 = 00101000 *pde = 00000000 Oops = 0002 CPU: 15 EIP: 0010[<c0113caf>] EFLAGS: 00010286 eax: ffffffff ebx: c0006018 ecx: 0000000f edx: fffffc18 esi: 00000000 edi: c0202980 edp: c000**** esp: c000**** ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Apr 16 14:34:27 funny syslogd 1.3-3: restart.
