It has become clear to me, due to the attitudes of some persons on this list that it should be broken in to three parts.
1. linux-kernel-newbie
Description: Post here if your just getting started out and don't really know what your doing.
Features: You probably won't get flamed for off-topic posts Don't ever expect a correct answer to a serious question Anyone can join this list
2. linux-kernel-demigod
Description: Post here if you have a moderately good knowledge of basic linux operations, and have experience writing small applications under linux, maybye even using sys_ calls.
Features: Only ask questions which have something to do with the kernel Questions like "What system call does this?" are welcomed C-Programming test by email required to join this list Off-Topic posts will result in personal flaming by various members
3. linux-kernel-inner-circle
Description: Only serious posts with direct references to kernel code allowed here.
Features: Don't even read this unless you have authored or co-authored atleast one driver. If you ask a question about a driver you wrote you'll probably get an answer from someone that understands it better than yourself. Off-Topic posts will result in your being banned from the mailing list, you might also get anonymously mail bombed for a while after you dismissal. Comprehensive 100 point written exam required for admission to this list. Once you have passed written exam a two thirds vote from current members of the list is required for your admission
