I'm sorry about that. I do have a copy of the most recent 2.1.x kernel,
but I was just too lazy to go and look.

To assign the new minor number, just change the #define in msr.c.
I forgot: to create the device /dev/msr, type: "mknod /dev/msr c 10 142".
