Thanks. Good news on SMP. Seems as though the kernel that Linus distributed, not the one I made from patches, fixes tha major SMP problems, i.e., the ones with select() and accept(). I have been "abusing" my SMP machine for about 5 1/2 hours ...

It has had none of the SMP problems. Even the modem line works.
