While it's true that the SPAM is something we can all do without, I don't think we can do without "free" access to this (and other) linux mailing lists. Remember: Most of the developers aren't running linux as a normal user or even a normal sys-admin. The perspective of people who aren't experts in unix and linux is extreamly valuable. A good example is my job. I write scripts and programs for Tandem's Guardian API, to help system administrators. I'm also the admin for a Tandem system. If I didn't do both, my scripts would be very hard to use. But since I have access to the day to day stuff, I have a much better idea of what is required of my scripts and programs. While we can't expect (reasonably) that every developer sys-admin a system and act like a newbie, we can make use of the newbie's and sys-admins out there and listen to their input. This is what makes linux great: "Every nickel counts" The Doctor What Guru of the Gods docwhat@itek.net Hackers confuse Xmas (25 Dec) with Halloween (31 Oct) "Just because you aren't paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you."
