I keep getting intermittent NFS problems on two SGI IRIX 5.3 machines when accessing NFS drives served from the linux box (with both 2.0.28 and 2.0.29). When compiling some programs, ld sometimes fails with a 'cannot create output file' message. The executable file does not show up on the IRIX machine, but shows up as a 0 sized file when viewed directly from the linux machine. Doing an 'rm -rf' on the directory with this file fails on the IRIX machine (never returns to the system prompt), and works fine on the Linux machine.
Doing the same thing from a Solaris 2.4 machine which has the NFS drive mounted from the linux machine works fine as well. I know this is a Linux problem because if I do the same thing on one of the IRIX machines on a NFS drive served by the other IRIX machine, things work fine.
This occurs with nfs-server-2.2beta(16|26). Any ideas as to what the problem may be?
