Below is a section of the syslog from a 2.0.33 kernel. After this messages we need to reboot the machine, because no longer anybody can connect to it:

Dec 27 14:09:52 facil3 kernel: eth0: bogus packet: status=0x0 nxpg=0x0 size=64 Dec 27 14:09:57 facil3 kernel: eth0: bogus packet size: 8256, status=0x0 nxpg=0x20.
The machine is a P200.
