Subjectboot time messages
I am running linux 2.0.0 (with my compiled kernel) and Xfree86 on
a Gateway 2000 486/33C desktop machine. Everything seems to work fine,
except that at boot time, I get these error messages.

I started getting these messages only after I installed and configured
X. These messages seem to be related to something that happened after X
configuration. I am confident of this because when I reinstalled all
the disk sets and recompiled the kernel, everything was OK. The moment I
installed and configured X and rebooted, I got the exact same set of
messages.

I am reproducing the boot time messages below. Lines preceded by
##**## are received only after X configuration.

1. The updating module dependencies porton of the messages is checking
dependencies for modules which I have not compiled into the kernel.
I did not compile tulip or cyclades or any of the others that the kernel
checks for.

2. The card services and card manager messages are new and I did not
receive them before X installation and configuration.

3. I have a standard IDE-ATAPI Sony CD-ROM which was recognized and
mounted without any problems before X. After X, I get unknown CD-ROM
message.

Any ideas on what is going on here?

Thanks
