The 6x86 is 64-bit the same way my alpha is 256-bit: it only has a 64-bit bus between the cache and the CPU (and possibly between cache and memory). The CPU is still 32-bit in every sense of the word. In short, if anybody told you they sold you a 64-bit system, they were lying.
If you're in the US, you could probably sue them ;-)
