SubjectRe: floppy.c and gcc 2.7.2p

I used gcc 2.7.2p to compile the kernel with floppy as both a module
and not. I had not problems. Here is are the flags:
gcc-pentium -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes
-O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strength-reduce -pipe -malign-loops=2
-malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o floppy.o floppy.c

This was done using patch level 9 which I compiled myself from the
patched up source.

In general it is not surprising that pgcc can lead to sig 11. The
pgcc faq can be found at
http://www-iss.mach.uni-karlsruhe.de/pcg/
More than you ever wanted to know about sig 11 can be found at
http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/
I think it warns against using pgcc as a testbed for your computer. Usually
the cause will be pgcc, not faulty hardware.
