My greatest wish of all would be for a _true_ kernel debugger - similar to SCO's scodb. This is a 'driver', that gives the kernel builtin debug support. Hit Ctrl^X on the console (even if it's on the serial-line), and the kernel 'halts' (obviously, ints still enabled) and gives a command line interface. From the debugger it is possible to single step the kernel, set breakpoints, examine/modify variables/ structures (as there is a symbol table loaded). A whole load of useful goodies. What very kernel needs.
