    The /proc entry might indeed be fluff, but there is certainly an
    argument for having CFLAGS defined as part of the kernel's data. To
    wit, it's currently impossible to tell what CFLAGS were used on
    a kernel image.

    Then at least someone doing debugging can print it out.
