I get this message frequently&often with 1.3.84 (haven't been brave 
enough to push the envelope much beyond that :), usually when I first 
start PPP.  I also get it if I increase the number of VCs with agettys 
after bootup (sometimes when I do that, all I can see is "Couldn't get a 
free page..." scrolling madly down the screen...).~
