hmm I'll include some tests I made .. it's on the other box .. I can get
some 3.2Kb/s getting the new source tree from helsinki.fi (I'm in
Montreal).

I have a v34 _Internal_ sportster and isp has sportster too. when
grabbing from isp, I get similar results.

isp `uname -a` tells:

SunOS zinc 5.4 Generic_101945-27 sun4c sparc

with 1.3.45 - 1.3.80 (and maybe up to 82) I have had some slowdowns as
much as 2.0 or 1.2kb/s from isp.

hope this can help tracking.

I'm willing to recomp any/ each version since 1.3.xx up to latest and try
if you think it can be useful to test.

thanx for reading
