I hesitate to ask here, since this is probably not kernel related, but I'm having trouble with libraries and ldconfig. I installed the following packages from /pub/linux/devel/GCC on a sunsite mirror:
binutils-2.6.0.12.bin.tar.gz gcc-2.7.2.bin.tar.gz libc-5.3.9.bin.tar.gz libg++-2.7.1.4.bin.tar.gz
When I run ldconfig -v, I get (edited output follows):
/sbin/ldconfig: version 1.7.3 /usr/lib: libstdc++.so.2 => libstdc++.so.2.7.0 libopcodes.so.2.6.0.10 => libopcodes.so.2.6.0.10 libjpeg.so.1.4 => libjpeg.so.1.4 libforms.so.0.7 => libforms.so.0.7 der => libbgd.so.2 (changed) lQ23ios8seek_diri => libstdc++.so.27.1.4 (changed) Fix16_abort__FRs => libg++.so.27.1.4 ymbol => libbfd.so.2.6.0.12 libopcodes.so.2.6.0.12 => libopcodes.so.2.6.0.12
Note the weird symlinks. If I delete the weirdos and re-run ldconfig, the weirdos return. Same for deleting /etc/ld.so.cache. What's going on? I'm running Linux 1.3.84, but I was having this problem with some earlier versions.
