Hi,
Why does broadcast work although I disabled it using the following: ifconfig eth0 -broadcast
My goal is to disable dynamic arp address resolution. I want to configure a firewall so that it only uses static arp addresses, that's why I need to disable broadcast. I can't disable arp since the firewall needs to answer arp requests for its own hardware address.
BTW, I also tried 'ifconfig broadcast 127.0.0.1' which is silly, but arp still worked (checked with tcpdump) on that computer.
