Subject'Interrupt latency' in 1.3.7x
Hi

On a lightly loaded machine, I don't see any performance difference with
CSLIP with 1.3.7x compared to any other kernels so I can't try to track
this down myself. For those people experiencing SLIP/PPP problems here are
some ideas/questions:

1) Has anyone tried the techniques from Documentation/BUG-HUNTING to track
down exactly which patch introduced this problem.

2) Can anyone reproduce this under more precise conditions i.e. where you
are not dependent on your phone company or ISP ... perhaps to see if the
problems still exist running say minicom between two linux boxes
connected via a serial cable ...

3) Anyone got an oscilloscope and a signal generator? A few lines of
kernel code to hook the printer port interrupt and toggle a printer port
line should enable you to measure interrupt latencies ...

4) Is there any commonality between the reports i.e. does everyone use
say IDE or SCSI or whatever ...

Comments?
