No. This seems to affect SLIP as well and it doesn't seem to be
fixed. One interesting datum is that it appears to be worse when
connecting to the Solaris hosts at syr.edu. It's not bad when connecting
to SunOS 4.1.3 hosts. I personally don't have any clue why that would
be, but if it means anything to anyone else....
