SubjectRe: RFC: A generic pointer protocol


What you describe sounds a lot like the VUID event mechanims Sun OS's
use for the X server. It is used for both keyboard and mouse events.
Check out the sparc kernel sources on vger for how this works since
Linux uses it as well for X and we therefore have all of the kinks in
the kernel and X11R6 sources worked out already.
