Subjectsound problems: real source found
A couple of hours ago I wrote the list about sound problems with the sound
module and a SB-Pro. It turns out that the problems are caused by the
realaudio player version 2.0, not Linux. It works fine as long as I avoid
RA. My guess, from previous experience, would be that the problem is in
the RA player. They tend to make it very non-portable between versions,
instead of, say, just converting the sound to .au and feeding it to
/dev/audio, or something like wav that can be sent to /dev/dsp with
minimal modification.
